NET PREAMBLE

NOTE: This is the guideline I use. All I ask is that you have fun and make it fun for those who check in. Try not to forget that you are Net Control. Sometimes trying to accomplish your task will be very challenging.

Good evening, this is <Call Sign>, and my name is <Name>. I would like to invite all licensed amateurs to participate in the W4CA net. This is a informal net and we meet each Wednesday evening at 8:00 PM through the facilities of the W4CA repeater. The repeater is located approximately 10 miles west by south west of Roanoke on Poor Mountain at approximately 3,957 feet. The repeater operates on a frequency of 146.985 MHz with a PL tone of 107.2 and is sponsored by the Roanoke Valley Amateur Radio Club. Again, this is an informal net and all licensed amateurs are welcome to participate. Check-in is by net number and amateur call sign. If you don't have a net number and would like to obtain one, let the net control operator know when you have checked into the net 5 times. He or she will notify the net manager Russ Abbey KG4MAV who will send you a nice certificate and assign you a net number which will be yours for life. Again, your net control for this evening is <Call Sign>, and my name is <Name>.

Before we get started with regular check-ins is there any emergency, priority, or routine traffic for the net this evening? If so, please call <Call Sign>.

We'll start out with check-ins from Mobiles and Portables. If you are Mobile or Portable, please call <Call Sign>.

I have a couple of announcements for the net. The Roanoke Valley Amateur Radio Club meets the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month at the Red Cross Building on Church Av. in downtown Roanoke. We invite everyone to come down and visit with us. If anyone is interested in getting into amateur radio, let one of the amateurs know and I'm sure you will get all the help you need to get started.

Once again, I'd like to remind everyone that the repeater has a tone of 107.2 Hz and you need to have this programmed into your radio or we can't hear you!!

Call for regular check-ins. (Your choice as to how you call for the net numbers)

Final call for check-ins will be for anyone wishing to check in with or without a net number.

REMEMBER THIS IS A FUN NET SO HAVE FUN WITH IT!
